After nearly nine years together, Liu and Li chose to celebrate their marriage with an intimate helicopter elopement in Wanaka, New Zealand.
Their story began in high school and grew through years of shared experiences, long-distance chapters, and life’s many transitions. When it came time to say “I do,” they envisioned a wedding focused not on tradition, but on the two of them and the adventure ahead.
On a crisp autumn morning, surrounded by the golden colours of New Zealand’s South Island, they shared an emotional first look before boarding a helicopter bound for the mountains above Lake Wanaka.
High above the lake, with panoramic views of rugged peaks and endless skies, they exchanged vows in one of New Zealand’s most breathtaking landscapes. The ceremony was simple and intentional — no grand installations, no formal reception, just two people promising a lifetime together.
